Work Hard – Play Hard at Point Sebago Resort
this Summer
Casco
ME – Located just 30 miles from Portland in
the heart of the Lakes Region is a
spectacular 775-acre resort. The resort is
set on over one-half mile of shorefront on
Sebago Lake, complete with a full-service
marina with boat slips and rentals, and an
18-hole championship golf course. The action
packed resort also hosts 10 tennis courts,
horseshoes, shuffleboard, tremendous sandy
beaches, lake view dining and more
activities than you could hope to do in a
summer.
Point Sebago Resort has been in business for
32 years. The resort was originally designed
as a campground. It has evolved into an
award winning resort with over 300 of its
own vacation rental units available to
guests from near and far who traditionally
stay for a week.
What has not changed at Point Sebago is the
commitment to providing fun, activity filled
vacations to families that visit the resort
throughout the spring, summer and fall.
There are activities from sun up to well
after sun down for children, teens, and
adults alike.
The 5-Star activities program brings out the
playful side in the kids and the kid inside
of the adult guests. It has been referred to
as the Disney of campgrounds in Maine.
According to a recent article in The Sun
newspaper, "Point Sebago Resort is more than
an outdoor experience - it's a recreational
way of life."
This spirit of recreation throughout the
resort translates to a positive atmosphere
for guest and staff members alike.
The Point Sebago staff even stages its own
shows to entertain the guests with a wide
range of talents in a lighthearted show.
Employees are welcomed and encouraged to get
involved in these team efforts, which
promise laughs and applause from the
generous audience of campers.
Employees at Point Sebago are valuable
players both behind the scenes and as part
of the scene. The outdoor-themed resort is
overflowing with activities, but it is the
employees at the resort that bring it to
life.
During peak season, Point Sebago has over
400 employees, with over 75 year-round
positions. Many employees return year after
year, some have worked at the resort for
over 15 years at the resort.
“It’s the feeling you get working here,”
commented Operations Director Karen Martens.
“It is a beautiful setting and the employees
are like one big family.”
The family aspect of working at Point Sebago
means each employee is a team player,
working towards a common goal of providing
fun for the guests.
“The positive energy that exists at Point
Sebago is contagious. It starts with our
attitude toward our guests, and in return
our guests have such a good experience they
keep coming back. It makes for a really
great environment,” said Don Toms, General
Manager. “Whether you are working here or
playing here, and we try to encourage both,
it’s a terrific place to be.”
In addition to working in a beautiful
lakeside setting, employees are welcome to
numerous resort benefits including
participation in on-property activities.
Golf, tennis, swimming and non-power boats
are available to employees free of charge,
upon availability so as not to preclude
guests’ usage.
Employees are also entitled to a 25%
discount at the General Store and the
resort’s restaurants and snack bars. Point
Sebago’s accommodations are available for
limited usage to employees in spring and
fall when available as well.
The resort has dozens of openings in over 40
different positions this summer. With a wide
range of offerings, there are employment
opportunities suited for every personality.
For water lovers, Point Sebago’s
full-service marina needs dock personnel,
powerboat mechanics, and cashiers for the
marina shop. The marina is a happening spot
in the summer, where the resort’s own cruise
ship, The Point Sebago Princess embarks for
daily scenic tours around the magnificent
lake.
The resort has power boats, sailboats,
paddle boats, kayaks and canoes available to
guest, which are all managed by the team of
marina employees. Water ski instructors are
needed to offer summer guests a fun and
informative opportunity to learn to water
skiing on Point Sebago’s ideally situated
water ski cove.
Point Sebago’s Championship Golf Course is
considered by all to be among the best golf
courses in the state of Maine. The scenic
and challenging golf course needs starters,
rangers, greeters and cart attendants for
the upcoming golf season. All of these
positions are perfect for energetic people
who enjoy being around the game of golf.
Course maintenance positions are also
available for those with a knack for greens
keeping. Our experienced Course
Superintendent provides training.
Point Sebago Resort accommodates up to 2,000
guests in prime summer months. To complete
the offerings of plentiful activities day
and night, the resort strives to provide
great food, drink and entertainment to its
guests.
The resort has a Lakeview Restaurant with
positions available for chefs, sous chefs,
and prep cooks. The popular restaurant and
adjacent Sunset Lounge and Sebago Lounge
need hosts, wait staff, and bartenders who
enjoy interacting and servicing vacationing
customers. Happy hours and nightly
entertainment are part of the resort’s
appeal, making these positions well suited
for individuals who thrive in a dynamic
atmosphere.
The resort has numerous positions to suit
all types of job preferences including
general resort maintenance personnel,
carpentry and housekeeping. Point Sebago
also has a full service General Store, where
cashier positions are available for those
interested in interaction with guests.
Friendly and outgoing personalities are
needed as reservationists and front desk
clerks at our Welcome Center annually.
Employees at Point Sebago enjoy free use of
all the recreation amenities including golf,
non-power boats from the marina, 25%
discount in the restaurant and General
Store, tennis and swimming. Of course use of
all resort facilities are based upon
availability, not to preclude paying guests.
“Point Sebago employees are our most
valuable asset,” said Don Toms, General
Manager. “Without them, we are just a nice
location. With them, we are a fantastic
vacation experience.”
The management makes efforts throughout the
season to reward their staff through
incentive programs, “employee of the week”
designations, and seasonal parties of
appreciation. The year-end Lobster Bake on
the Beach is a favorite time among
employees, when the entire team gathers to
celebrate another successful season at the
resort.
If you are looking to become part of an
energetic team, look no further than the
shores of Sebago Lake. Point Sebago Resort
is a beautiful, rewarding place to work and
play this summer. It could be the start of a
whole new career and lifestyle.

You may have heard of Camp Sunshine in
conjunction with Point Sebago Resort. The
owners of Point Sebago Resort, Larry and
Anna Gould, also operate Camp Sunshine on
the adjacent resort property.
This is a one of a kind retreat for families
with critically ill children. The camp has
the distinction of being the only program in
the nation whose mission is to address the
impact of a critical illness on every member
of the immediate family - the ill child, the
parents, and the siblings.
Camp Sunshine vacations are offered to
families in need of a respite from their
stressful situations, absolutely free of
charge, including medical supervision,
accommodations and activities. It is
entirely due to volunteer efforts that this
camp can be offered to deserving families
with ill children.
Last year, Camp Sunshine became a full-time
designated campus. Previous to the new
facility, the Camp Sunshine curriculum would
take place for four weeks each summer at the
Gould’s resort, Point Sebago. The Goulds are
pleased to have achieved the goal of a brand
new Camp Sunshine campus.
In their on-going effort to provide support
to those in need, the Goulds plan to host a
special session June 30-July 5, 2002. In
response to the tragic events of September
11th, Camp Sunshine will hold a special week
of Camp exclusively for the children and
families of victims of the World Trade
Center attacks.
Camp Sunshine is always looking for
volunteer support.
